Nikkei: Samsung's panel driver chip has not yet been approved for shipment to Huawei
Foreign media reported recently that Samsung has obtained permission from the US government to continue to supply OLED panels to Huawei. However, according to the Nikkei Chinese website, Samsung's semiconductor chips for panel drivers have not yet been approved.
It is understood that the OLED panel includes a panel device that can finely arrange pixels and a "controller IC" chip that sends signals to it for image display. Samsung Display currently has only the panel part approved by the US government, and the chip part is not included.
